Menagerie a series of hand printed prints looks closer into the development of the still lives as a genre and the meaning of the word “dead lives” in particular in Dutch paintings of the 17th Century. There is this fascination and the tension between the real-life rendering but the hardly realistic depiction of a scene. It is the freedom to experiment with objects and the settings, mixing life and death- science and art whilst providing artistic illusions of life and creating a mystery.
