Tales of Telmoreres, is series of mixed media fine art prints on paper reflecting the question of longevity inspired by the work of the art and ethic research group at the University of Edinburgh.. A cell has a clock, a suicide switch. The telomere is the protective tip at the end of the DNA - they play a big role in age and age related diseases. Scientists trying to find a way to stop premature cell aging and treating age related deceases through resetting the DNA. With it comes the possibility of longevity and even the dream of reversing human ageing. This raises many social and ethical questions. What is the value of extending a current life? What are the social implications? Will it be accessible only by the rich? Do we need to add more value to individuals’ contributions to justify a longer life? The circular form reflects the petri dish and the mythology of a never ending life within a composition of symbolic and medical images and objects.
